L was one of our first callers to our new call centre. She was looking for some help with a regular shop. They had been surviving mainly on long life goods when we matched them with D a volunteer close by. L called us up today to say thank you. She wanted us to know that she was really grateful to her volunteer, D and that things were working out really well.
She told us that she had cooked a vegetable curry the night before with the fresh vegetables that D had sourced for her. Eating fresh vegetables makes such a difference not only to your physical health, but L told us it makes such a big difference to her outlook saying ‘It really lifts your spirits to know you have fresh food‘. She told us, that it isn’t until you don’t have it that you realise how much we take for granted in our lives. Having butter and fresh milk, instead of powdered milk makes isolation just that little bit more bearable.

L doesn’t have access to the internet and so only heard about our services when we launched our call centre in mid April. She had been managing mostly on the goods in her cupboards along with a few items friends and neighbours managed to get for her.
At Helpout.im we have a vast network of volunteers who have come forward because they recognise that this virus has placed unexpected limitations on so many of us entirely out of left field. If you, or anyone you know, is isolating or shielding then we are here to help. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call to chat with us about how we might be able to make your life in isolation just that little bit more bearable. You can contact us on 033 00 88 7224 (local call rates apply) orthrough our website or email on help@helpout.im.
